Philosophy class has given me a new perspaective

When this semester started I was so excited about being in Philosophy. I am still excited about that class. I learned so much in that one class I'm amazed. If there is one class and only one class I could recommend for someone it would be Philosophy.
This is the first class I have had in college where I've thought so much. This is not just thinking, it's critically evaluating and analyzing. Mind expanding would be another way of putting it. The class is taught by Fred Giacobazzi. In most of our lives we are taught what to think not how to think, this class teaches how to think. How to think critically.
The importance of Philosophy for me is high. I know for my life it is important to know my beliefs and why I believe them. To be open to all possibilities and keep an open mind to other people's beliefs. This is the subject that came before the sciences were developed. This is how people would try to figure life out, as if life can be figured out. Even though life doesn't have an easy answer, people may want to try to dissect life and figure it out for themselves. If you have a earning to know why this or why that Philosophy may be for you.
Another important part of Philosophy was that I found out it was okay not to know everything. I know I'm an intelligent person but I also know that it is okay not to know. I've always been a highly opinionated person not respecting the opinion of others quite enough. I was one of those people that thought I had to shove my opinion down the throats of others for them to understand. Now I respect the opinion of others and even try to learn from what they think about something.
I feel this sense of inner refinement now. I don't even know a portion of the knowledge that is available to the human species and that is perfectly fine. I've always been the type to want to learn more and more and more. Some call that humility, being open to being taught. The sense of inner refinement is like having my ruffled feathers smoothed on the inside.
Not to say this class is hard or this class is easy, this class is plain wonderful. For some the class may be easy or for some it may be hard, either way, the manner in which the subject allows your mind to become so expanded is amazing. Talking to my classmates they have agreed with me on how great it has been for them as well. The ability to communicate with others in a way that is non violent when expressing ones held belief to someone who opposes that belief. There are so many profound ways this class opens one up, one column could not give it justice.
In closing I would like to recommend Philosophy to any person. Young or older than young, male or female, whatever, having a life Philosophy is a good idea.
